What is this blog about?

This blog was created to voice my personal opinions and views about the SweetCollect.co.uk website, the company Carl Knight Limited AKA Sterling Rock and Carl Knight/Buckingham himself. In here you'll find background info, consumer reviews, useful links and plenty of warnings about all of the above.

My first article explains the history surrounding me and the above mentioned names. Read here

Recent forum discussions found here and here explain a bit about the business practices of Carl Knight Ltd.

There would have been no need for me to write this blog if Carl Knight and his lapdogs had acted in an honest and decent way. As it stands at the minute Carl Knight is threatening to sue anyone and everything who even hints about any negative aspects regarding his company and business practices. Non-biased consumer review sites are becoming exactly what they claim they aren't. They ARE becoming biased.

The voice of the consumer is lost forever if we can't even be heard on consumer review/opinion sites. The UKs biggest consumer site ciao.co.uk have removed all trace of Sweet Collect from their website, this means the many MANY negative reviews and warnings by us common Joe Bloggs consumers have been lost forever.

Is this fair?

Gawd knows how websites like Sweet Collect and companies such as Carl Knight Ltd remain in business for so long. From what I can see there's far more dishonesty surrounding Carl Knight than there is honesty. It's not right and plenty of consumers just like myself also have the same opinion.

Do you readers have any opinions to offer? You don't have to agree with my viewpoint in order to leave a comment. Do you know of other websites or companies just like this? Share your opinions here (good/bad/positive/negative etc, all are valid) without fear of recrimination.

I just by chance came across your blog and my first thought after reading your thoughts was 'Good for you!' I dont know what you went through but I can relate to your feelings about dealing with less than stand up business practices. Bad news. It would have been good to have a little idea about the specifics, i.e., were you sold a caslte w/o a moat or is this guy a sociopath? This is not related to sweetcollect, I have already read many bad reviews about them so the damage has already been done it seems. I am writing this comment as I have had a negative review removed from top opinion websites after the owner threatened court action. This was despite having backed up my opinion with other review links and even an offical County Concil document.

Keep on posting wherever you can, they should not be allowed to get away with it. I'd say the anomymous posts here are from sweetcollect themselves.

Well they are legal but the moral must be ZERO! Selling your E-mail to spammers? Sending you candy over a year after they should? Not taking care of problems? Threatning everyone talking bad about them?

All this is what Carl Knight/Sweetcollect/pinkspiderrewards do for a living. Ripping of people! He's not rich, he's VERY rich and has become that way in a short time due to very low moral and queastionable businesses.

im with you on that its a total rip off, carl knight is a little stuck up kid who runs off to hid behind his soliciter whenever anyone causes him to spit out his dummy, the sweetcollect forum is full of sad losers who like to kiss his rear end and think he is fantastic, the really need to open their eyes a little and see him for a con artist
perhaps a lot of people could get together and take legal action against him for not getting payment due (sweetcollect, alcopoints) ive spent money through his sites and didnt get the reward so it is essentially theft of cashback given by the retailers

Is SweetCollect legal? I have been told by someone with direct experience of the Carl Knight (at the time Sterling Rock) Empire exactly how he makes this work.
He pays under 16 year olds to fill plain paper enveloped with sweets using ungloved hands, and sends foodstuffs through regular mail. that's a couple of laws and regulations broken right there.

Thanks you Guys (whoever you are) for taking the time to write down your opinions. Just goes to show how many people there are who hold this company/owner in contempt. They/he should've let everyone have their own opinions from the start instead of kicking up a stink and throwing about threats of legal action to all and sundry. For a start all the consumer reviews which he had removed have been reposted in numerous places, he's got no hope of finding all the negative content now because it's literally all over the place. Wonder if he regrets acting like such an arse...? Nah probably not. :)

It's all been rather quiet on the other side though. Where are all the supposed Sweetcollect addicts and Carl Knight fans?

Regular members of his forum appear to be the only ones who *do* receive sweets.

Let me just quote the message Carl posted on the forum. "Something very special is happening on SweetCollect UK this month and to begin with it will only be available to a very limited number of members.
Make sure that you're posting frequently on SweetCollect UK and that you remain one of our preferred members to ensure that you are including in the first group of members to experience it."

If you aren't an active and prefered member of that forum you don't stand a cat in hells chance of getting owt but a load of spam.

Thanks for your comment cruel_kez. The one saving grace about my experience with SweetCollect was the fact that I only ever did the free offers. Who in their right mind would buy something through SweetCollect just to get a few sweets? There's so many cashback sites out there which offer really good incentives, i'd rather have cash rewards than non-existent sweetie ones any day.

As much as i hate to admit it but i am a relative to carl knight! and jst so you know his real name is carl buckinghham he changed it like a dork! i hate the lad he was a sour little bastard before sweet collect and he still is! and your suspisions on his company are not wrong he HAS paid under 16's to work at his company handling sweets without gloves or handwashing regalations! he hops countrys all the time so it is very hard to keep track of him! he likes to control people around him by showing off his money! and believe me i wouldnt be so threatened by his little legal threats he doesnt even have half his employs on contracts and then doesnt pays them for weeks! he will never admit it but he has not got as much money as he says! he is so sucked up in his own little world that he does not realise some of us have bills to pay! and the mature buisness man still lives with his mum HAHAHA staying anonymous because the little fucker will cause family problems and wudnt be happy until everybody is fighting!

Hey.. just like to say keep up the good work on the site

I am interested in openning up my own site similar to sweetcollect (in the idea.. of course I will actually give people their sweets and wont scam people) and was just wondering what you think of the idea and if you'd be interested in rallying for it over sweetcollect if I do decide to go along with it.

I think it's a good idea, i'd join up and give it a go. These days i'm much more inclined to join sites where the rewards are monetary but i'll give anything a go so long as my time isn't wasted.

As for rallying for it - I never rally for anything unless i've had a positive experience. But yes, if you started a site, if I joined and if I had a positive experience then yes I would rally for it. Let me know how it goes.

Carl Buckingham (or Knight as he now prefers to call himself) has changed his name and business names a few times to try to get away with his fraudulent dealings.

There have been numerous posts about Carl, SweetCollect and Ocean Affiliates on forums around the internet, but he usually manages to get them removed by threatening legal action or even physical violence.

I can't find the most incrimating threads because Carl has had them removed but see this for example http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-41852.html - the ones removed were far worse.

Just one last point i'd like to make if you haven't fallen asleep Shaun :) You said to me "they're just sweets, no need to get so angry about it" What about the fact I had ALL my reviews on Ciao.co.uk removed and was permanently banned even though i'd been a loyal, frequent and prominent member for 2 years? Ciao.co.uk bowed down to some snotty, spotty, power-crazed, lawsuit hungry, all-gob-no-action 20 (at the time) yr old who's renowned across the web for suspect business activities. This Ciao episode is what REALLY got my goat at the time of it happening.

I couldn't give 2 hoots now though. Ciao and SweetCollect are welcome to each other. Neither website is trustworthy and neither website values its members.

Dooyoo all the way for non-biased reviews. They reinstated my SweetCollect review and ignored Carl Knights threats of legal action. All the other negative SweetCollect reviews are also still in the public eye plus no-one has been banned....yet

Carl Knight is most vile figure I have ever come across online. He is rude, immature and caught up in his own world.

He has frittered away the money he earns on first class flights, limousines and in Las Vegas. He has a gambling addiction. Everybody in affiliate marketing knows that.

I was an affiliate on his network, OceanAffiliates, and he owes me a considerable sum of money. Despite over lots of emails and phone calls, he hasn't paid me my money.

I posted this on the a4u bulletin board. He threated the owner, Matt Wood, with legal action and had all the dozens of posts complaining about non-payment removed.

I'm a user of SweetCollect and thought I'd comment...

I have no doubt in admitting that SweetCollect is close to appalling service. That is, I mean, in terms of validating sweets and getting them sent off.

However, why I still use SweetCollect is because you do eventually receive the sweets. Currently, I think the waiting list is 7 months for your sweets to be despatched, but I have no doubt that it will be over that time by the time the sweets are delivered.

I have received around 1400 sweets from SC, so can say first hand that they are legit - although I understand why many people presume that nobody ever receives any sweets. I joined quite early on, and the service was much better then. Admittedly the service has got worse as time has gone on, but I know that eventually I will receive the goods.

Next I would like to comment on this blog etc. Good for you that you've created it, but I wish that personal attacks could be left out of your comments. It doesn't do you any favours, and if anything, it puts people off you as a person. I like to read constructive debates with evidence to support what you're saying - and this blog does have that, but it also has unnecessary personal attacks to other people. Please, keep it to the company and not to actual people.

Finally, I would like to comment on the evidence that you have put together. It is not up to me to decide whether all of these scam-type things that Carl Knight Ltd has been running are true or not - but I would not be surprised if they were true. Really, I would just like to state that I have taken an unbiased view on this matter, giving my own personal opinion and I hope that you can respect that.

Overall, my comment is that SC has terrible service, but they are ultimately not a complete scam as they DO send out what they promise... eventually.

Also waiting for a parcel which should of been dispatched a couple of years ago! No response to my emails reguarding it. Also part of a charity who signed up to be an affilate of SC, never once saw a penny. He should be featured on Watchdog, have you ever emailed them about him?

I used to work for sweetcollect and all the comments about carl are being a little nice i think. Carl will do everything and anything to f**k you over. Words can't describe what i think about him. But i do know that his only friends are 12-14 yr old boys. Am i the only one who thinks this is a little strange! All i can say is don't let your kids near him. Although I recieved my first one and was assured over and over again I would recieve my second I was constantly lied to and screwed over. My number in the list went from 1 to 4 to 13 then back up and back down again. I tried to check today but the site is now down.
This group are a bunch of scammers trying to rip the everyday person off. So glad I didn't do any of the expensive offers that there were and only stuck to the free ones even if I did receive spam because of it.

I have been a member for years and years and have a huge 'collection' (at last check a couple of thousand sweets) awaiting packaging - again, I have had this for years. But I have never recieved a package ever. About 2 years ago I questioned this and they said that the management had changed hands and that they were sorting it out and I'd definitely get my packages but I have never heard back. I became a member of sweetcollect.se, the Swedish site, run by the same company. I don't remember how many sweets I had collected but I believe it was at least 50. I placed the order so they could be sent to me. Yeah right! I waited over a year and recieved nothing!!!

I was still waiting for my sweets when they shut the Swedish site down, what a SCAM! They were my sweets, I had earned them by doing different things on Sweetcollect.se and then they shut it down. They should still have sent me my sweets. In a sense, you could say that SweetCollect stole from me!

Thank goodness I didn't use any offer I had to pay for! All I lost was my time and pride. What I gained? Well, how about anger, frustration and a feeling of being cheated? Cheated by whom? Take one guess!!! PS. Can you tell I'm quite angry ;-) ???
